This 13 week literature-based study is designed for students in Grades 4th-6th. The class takes place each Tuesday February 5 - April 30. Learn about Laura Ingalls and her family's joys and struggles as they pioneered the woodlands and prairies of the post-Civil War American frontier. Each student will need to bring their own copy of the book, Little House on the Prairie, each week. The students will not only read two chapters per week, they will research other people and events significant to the life of Laura Ingalls. As a literature-based unit study, students will study different theme(s) including but not limited to: language art, science, writing and researching, and reading comprehension, cooking and frontier living, crafts, and post Civil War American history. Assignments will be given each week to be completed before the next class. This class will take place rain or shine.
